A public declaration to teach and to train up the child in the ways of God; by acknowledging that the child is a blessing and a gift from God; that the child belongs to God.
This is done by pronouncing a blessing upon the child; It is not baptism, as baptism requires repentance from sin, followed by a public confession of one’s faith and commitment to Jesus.
