What is Fasting?
Where the Christian sacrifices the natural desire for food in order to spend time seeking God regarding specific issues.
The reason for fasting is that we deny our physical need and concentrate on our spiritual walk with God.
Through prayer and His Word, we are more sensitive and alert to hear from God, which will help us to see the changes that is necessary to be made in our lives.
Romans 12: 2 – And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
Fasting should not be seen as a way for losing weight.
Fasting should be a joyful time in a cheerful atmosphere, because we are in the presence of God and want to hear from Him.
Matthew 6: 16–18
Moreover when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men to fast. Verily I say unto you, they have their reward. 17 But thou, when thou fastest, anoint thine head, and wash thy face; 18 That thou appear not unto men to fast, but unto thy Father which is in secret: and thy Father, which seeth in secret, shall reward thee openly.
As someone said –
FASTING DOES NOT CHANGE GOD! FASTING CHANGES US!
